Juneteenth is about Black people who were officially technically supposed to be freed from enslavement. Nobody else. Nothing else. It’s not a POC day. It’s not a “freedom for all” day. It’s Black folk, Black culture, Black emancipation, SPECIFICALLY. Any other observation for Juneteenth is gentrification.

By ignoring individual health needs and issues, it also puts up a barrier against those who, no how hard they may try, cannot sustain certain livelihoods. There are people who cannot and will not ever be able to eat or exist in a certain way. For example, not everyone can do yoga. Especially in the way yoga has been appropriated and bastardized by the West. Where it’s solely a physical workout and not a spiritual system & practice. So, if someone says that the only way to spiritual enlightenment is via yoga, and a particular yogic regimen, then where does that leave people with a chronic illness? Where does that leave disabled people? Amputees? Paralyzed people? Why should their spiritual connection be hindered because someone decided that there is only one path to God, and it’s this very limited action?
